It's the little things that can make your RV feel more like a home. I wish RV manufacturers would stop with the color schemes and patterns they insist on putting inside and keep it more neutral. To help give the RV a more personal feel, I have been adding some art, whimsical touches, and some of the comforts of home.
I decided that the first thing to go was the generic bedspread that came with the trailer. I replaced it with one of the extras from home but eventually want to add one with some vibrant color to pop against all the shades of beige and brown that came with the RV.
Finding a way to hang art was a little challenging, I purchased one small canvas print and downloaded some free artwork that I put in light-weight frames. I used the 3M Command Large Picture Hanging Velcro strips, and so far they are holding everything in place just fine.
One of my favorite art pieces is a collage idea I found on Pinterest (I love finding ideas on Pinterest!). I took a stencil of a bear and traced it onto card stock, cut it out, and then did a collage from travel magazines and pieces of a map. I mounted it on black paper and framed it.
I decided since I have a real kitchen, to add little touches like I do at home, while still keeping weight and small space in mind. I found a great stemless wine glass set with outdoor adventure sayings etched into them at T.J. Maxx that are perfect for us. The dishes we are using look like paper plates, complete with ruffled edges, but are actually plastic, and have a couple of little bees on them made by a company called "What is it?". My favorite find so far has been my 5th wheel salt and pepper shakers. I keep some of my decorative items in a plastic tote with the items wrapped in plastic, I store it in the oven while we are traveling and pull it out and set everything out once we are parked at our campsite. It takes less then 5 minutes and makes a world of difference in creating a comfortable and warm living space.
